In a year full of uncertainty, something unexpected blooms. We met at Universitas Gadjah Mada—not as friends, but as polar opposites. First impressions weren’t great, but life had other plans. Unknowingly, that moment marked the quiet beginning of forever.
During the pandemic, we were paired in the same study group. That’s when everything changed. We became best friends who did endless Zoom calls, sharing not just notes but random thoughts, laughing through the stress of exams, and deep midnight conversations about our dreams, ambitions, and everything in between.
Finally, on February 20, 2022, we reunited in Jogja, where love finally found its voice. The city that once witnessed our silent standoff now holds the warmth of our joined hands. Later that year, we studied in the Netherlands. Living abroad and adulthood brought its highs and lows, but every moment reaffirmed what we had always known—we were meant to be together.
After graduation, we were oceans apart. She returned to Indonesia, while I stayed in the Netherlands. Long-distance wasn’t easy, but love and faith carried us. We grew together, even across different time zones.
As the distance continued, so did God’s blessings. I completed my master’s and began work in Rotterdam. Then on Christmas Day, in a quiet moment filled with joy and certainty, we promised forever. She said yes.
On August 23, 2025, we will begin a new chapter—as husband and wife. Our journey wouldn’t have led us here without being shaped by faith, distance, growth, and the willingness to embrace each other’s imperfections. What started with a spark has grown into a lifelong promise.
We are filled with excitement as we embark on this new chapter of our lives, and we look forward to having you with us to celebrate this union as we say “I do.”
